Gallery - Wolves

Despite their bad rap in children's stories, wolves have facinated me all my life. They only kill to eat, they're fun-loving, fiercely loyal, and will mourn for up to six weeks when a pack member dies, laying around in silence. Facinating creatures.

These shots were taken outside of Golden, British Columbia with a wolf handler who used pieces of venison to keep them around for the photo session. They were somewhat tame, but I was warned not to touch them, or make any sudden movements. As they got used to my presence, they would rub past me, check out my smell, etc. but you could tell they're not dogs. Captive wolves retain their wild instincts.
