Though known primarily as a photographer, I also design and build web pages such as:
www.JamesPhotography.ca
www.BurnstownImages.ca
www.AccessoryTheNovel.com
www.StephenHaighMarquetry.com
www.ValerieMillerQuiltedCovers.com
www.Ruahhh.com
www.HorizonHomesRenfrew.com
www.NoMoreStinkyToes.com
...and many others. If required to work with other creative input, I collaborate well with artistic directors, copy editors, stock photographers, marketing departments, etc.
Most of these sites I design are more than "brochure ads" for businesses; they also include interactive and dynamic content with the use of back-end Perl/cgi-bin programming, and a bit of e-commerce to boot! I hold a webmaster's certificate from the International Association of Webmasters and Designers. Because of my training and experience, there are certain research-proven design principles I adhere to when building a web site. These design philosophies attract and keep an audience, promote your core message, and encourage customers to return.
Additionally, my web sites tend to be simple and elegant, without the use of a lot of bells and whistles (like Flash animation) that actually discourage search engine indexing.
I can manage all things "Internet", such as domain name registration, domain name transfer, DNS issues - there's no reason to hire a team for your website, as I will take care of all the technicalities. You can also manage your domain name and hosting yourself if you prefer, which allows you to renew these items directly with your Internet service provider.
Some of my artistic and technical experience that contributes to these web creation and management skills include the following:
Graphic designer
Layout artist
Paste-up artist
Calligrapher
Photoshop
Photography
Web server installation, maintenance (Apache, IIS, Netscape)
Perl programmer
Unix system administrator (Solaris, Linux, AIX)
e-Commerce setup with PayPal and other providers
Various other Internet technologies
If you're looking for an experienced, fast, and thorough web master to create and/or manage your presence on the web, give me a call or send an email - I'll be glad to give you a quote. I can work by the hour (...I charge in one-minute increments!), or give you a firm price - whatever works best for your situation.
I look forward to hearing from you!
